Help
On this page we’ve collected the most common questions regarding our streamed, digital performance videos.
GOfilm is simple to use. Click on Movies in the menu at the top of the page. Then click on the film you would like to see. If the movie is active, you will see a "Play" symbol, which you can click on, and then click on the smaller play button in the bottom left corner of the window to begin the video. The film quality should adapt automatically to your internet speed.
Test at home before the performance starts
We advise you to set up and test your equipment before the performance begins, to make sure you can get a connection to both sound and image. You can use this film clip to test with.
The video isn't starting at the advertised time (for live events)
If you've loaded the webpage well before the performance begins, browser don't always react to the beginning of the livestream. Reload/refresh the page a minute or so before the performance begins, or as soon as you notice it hasn't begun in time, and the stream should begin as normal.
Which browsers work best?
We suggest Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge or Firefox. Older browsers like Internet Explorer or more unusual browsers don't work as well.
How can I watch the performance on my televison?
The easiest way to watch the performance on your TV is to connect your computer to the TV using an HDMI cable.
Can I use my Android, iPhone, iPad, Chromecast or AppleTV to watch?
We recommend that you watch the performance directly on a laptop or iPad, or connect a computer to your TV with an HDMI cable. You can also watch on a smartphone screen, but of course the experience won't be quite the same! It is possible to share (or cast) your screen to your TV using a Chromecast or Apple AirPlay, but this website isn't yet optimised for this. How well this works will depend on your equipment at home, or if anyone else is using the same network to watch other films or play games.
- Here are instructions for AppleTV, or to share your screen from iPhone or iPad
- Here are instructions to "cast" from an Android.
- Here are instructions to "cast" a Chrome tab from your computer to your TV.
- More Chromecast help files are here.
The video is lagging or pausing. What can I do?
In the bottom right-hand corner of the video window is a small cog. If you click on that you can manually reduce the video resolution, which can help.
Can I download the video to watch it later offline?
For copyright reasons this is not possble.
Can I stream from countries outside Sweden?
Yes!
Do you need more help?
Send an email to gofilm@opera.se and we will do what we can to help. For live events, we are available from about an hour before the broadcast begins.
We can give you advice, but are unfortunately unable to help with technical problems with the equipment in your home.
